US Companies Will Pay Employees Travel Expenses Who Require an Abortion

In response to customers, investors and employees, corporate America is being pulled away from the political sides on the abortion issue. Companies are also trying to retain and attract talent, concerned about the potential impact anti-abortion laws in these states could have on their employees.

These are the top companies that offer expanded support to employees in countries that restrict abortion care.

Microsoft

After the first leak of Roe’s draft opinion, Microsoft ( MSFT), extended its financial support to “critical healthcare”, including abortions and gender-affirming care. This included travel expenses.

Apple

According to an Apple ( AAPL spokesperson, the company’s current benefits package allows employees to travel to another state to receive medical care that is not available in their home state.

Meta

According to a spokesperson, the tech giant plans to reimburse travel expenses “to the extent allowed by law” to employees who need out-of-state medical and reproductive services. A spokesperson for Meta ( FB), said that they are currently evaluating how best to do this given the legal complexities involved.

Uber

Uber’s US insurance plans cover everything related to reproductive health, including travel expenses for healthcare. According to an Uber ( UBER spokesperson, the rideshare company will reimburse drivers who are sued by state law for transporting patients to clinics via Uber’s app.

Netflix

A spokesperson for Netflix ( NFLX), stated that the streaming company provides travel reimbursement coverage for US employees and their dependents, who travel to receive healthcare treatment including abortions or gender-affirming care. Each service is covered by the company’s lifetime allowance of $10,000 for employees or their dependents.
