Audi’s New EV Luxury SUV is Augmented Reality and Doubles As a Pickup
Audi’s latest concept vehicle is an all-electric luxury SUV. It uses augmented reality glasses, and can also double as a small pickup truck. This signals future technology for Audi. Volkswagen Luxury brand
The “Activesphere” vehicle’s rear glass can slide forward to open the flatbed trunk of an SUV, creating an open-air space that can be used for carrying objects. Audi calls the modular cargo bed an “active back”, but it is unlikely that a production vehicle will be available with this unique feature.
Philipp Gundert from Audi brand strategy stated that “it’s a completely different range and a new opportunity it affords us.” Audi is well-known for trying new things with cars… but there are no concrete plans.
Concept vehicles are used by automakers to gauge customer interest and show future direction for a brand or vehicle. These vehicles are not intended to be sold to customers.
