Proud Boys Charged With Plotting Attack On U.S. Capitol

Enrique Tarrio is indicted for sending messages between members of the far right group prior to the Jan. 6th riot.

The former chairman of the Proud Boys was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury. He is accused of discussing with other leaders the plan to attack the U.S. Capitol in on January 6, 2021.

The federal prosecutors are now close to answering the lingering question of Enrique Tarrio: Was there a plan to storm the Capitol in advance or was it just a matter of seizing the moment.

“This is the farthest that the U.S. government has gone in arguing that there was specific planning. Seamus Hughes, deputy director of Program on Extremism, George Washington University, said that we now have a better picture than ever before, more than one year later.
