The Highest Gas Prices In US History, Breaking Record From 2008

The price of gas rose dramatically after Russia invaded Ukraine. It topped a level that was nearly 14 years old.
According to AAA, Tuesday’s national average price for regular gasoline was $4.17. This is the highest ever price, and does not include inflation. This was an increase of $4.07 from Monday and $3.61 one week before.

According to AAA, the previous record was $4.11 on July 17, 2008. This would be equivalent to $5.25 today, adjusted for inflation.
