Inside Biden’s New COVID Plan for New Variants

The Plan of Four Goals

President Joe Biden came up with a plan for new Covid variants that has four main objectives. This includes:

  • Protection and treatment against Covid19
  • Preparing for the upcoming variants
  • Avoiding shutdowns and closures
  • Combating the Covid 19 overseas

As a part of the strategy, Joe Biden came up with a new idea where citizens could get tested for the virus at any pharmacy. He called this one a “test to treat’. As the name suggests, it’s an initiative where people can get tested, and if they get tested positive, they could get treated with antiviral pills then and there. The best thing about this complete initiative is that the treatment is free of cost.

Apart from that, the plan also addresses how President Biden wouldn’t accept living with covid19 as other diseases including cancer, AIDs, and Alzheimer’s. It further states that:

“We will continue our work to stop the spread of the virus, blunt its impact on those who get infected, and deploy new treatments to dramatically reduce the occurrence of severe Covid-19 disease and deaths.”

In order to achieve their objective and ensure a successful Covid response, the US needs to disburse around $100 billion or more in the coming years. Most experts consider this is an investment that can work as biosecurity for the US to combat the virus. They believe that it’s time to invest and act wisely rather than being closefisted.

Treatment for Long Covid Symptoms

Recently, there were many reports of lingering effects of Covid19 even after recovery. While some recovered healthily, for others, life hasn’t been normal ever since.

Throwing limelight on long Covid symptoms, health secretary Xavier Becerra talked about opening “new centers of excellence” for such patients. The motive of these centers is to ensure good care for individuals suffering from lingering covid symptoms.

Additionally, the plan had other objectives of initiating better research for quick vaccine development (100 days). This is for the situations where new variants emerge and infect people! It also involved strategies to look after children who lost their parents/caregivers due to the pandemic.

The strategy features other things like a pledge for the administration to ensure adequate inventories and instructions for the schools and businesses. It also mentions providing tools and devices for better ventilation across these places.

Speaking of masks, the white house has dropped masks for those who are vaccinated ahead of the Biden state for the union. Even president Biden walked through the house chamber without a mask and greeted other lawmakers who were maskless. This manifests that the focus is more on testing and treatment rather than restrictions.

What’s Next

The new plan of President Biden to combat Covid19 has been appreciated by the experts. If things go as planned, we might witness a great response. As of today, the US has recorded more than 58,000 cases and 2300+ deaths. Let’s see how these initiatives affect the daily counts and deaths.
