AI Was Asked To Design Skyscrapers by An Architect. This Is What It Suggested

Manas Bhatia has a vision for the future that sees residential skyscrapers covered with plants, trees, and algae as “air purification towers.”

The idea was brought to life by the New Delhi-based computational designer and architect. His futuristic buildings rise high above the city, with their curving forms inspired by shapes found in nature.

However, the images were not his imagination.

Bhatia used Midjourney to create elaborate images based on written prompts for his conceptual project “AI x Future Cities”. Midjourney generated a number of digital images by using a series text descriptions, including phrases such as “futuristic towers”, “utopian technology,” and “bioluminescent materials”. Bhatia then tweaked the prompts to make them more appealing.

Each of these surreal artworks can take 20 minutes, according to Bhatia. He revised his descriptions nearly 100 times, adding text and editing until he reached the desired results. Then he used Photoshop to clean up the images.
The architect stated over the phone that “the trial-and-error portion is the most enjoyable.” “We use AI for creating images. In the process, AI trains itself and improves over time.”

Bhatia also created a project called “Symbiotic architecture” that imagined a future where buildings were made from living materials. He used prompts such as “giant” or “hollowed” to create images of what he described as a “utopian futurity” where apartments are made from redwood-sized trees.
