YouTube Finally Separates Shorts from Regular Videos

On Thursday, the change that gives each type of content its own tab began rolling out. It should be available to more users in the “coming weeks”.

Youtube creators and YouTube’s partners have good news

This approach has one drawback: it makes it harder for completionists who want to see every channel’s content. They also enjoy having everything on one screen. It’s a blessing for me. Many of the creators I follow upload clips of their regular content and switch to the videos tab. I used to have to scroll through thumbnails and then remember to go back up to turn on the filter. Users who only want to see short videos will be able to do so without having to filter out the regular content.

Starting next year, creators in the Partner Program will receive a cut from the revenue generated by ads that are shown in shorts. This could be a big advantage for Youtube over TikTok which currently pays creators through a creator’s fund and allows them to make some money via tips.
