Video: Moderna CEO Struggles to Answer Why COVID-19 Has Patented Gene Sequence

Stephane Bancel, CEO of Moderna, stumbled when asked why COVID-19 contained a gene sequence that he had patented three years prior to the pandemic.

Maria Bartiromo asked Bancel why a small piece of DNA that Moderna patented was found in COVID-19 during a Thursday appearance on Fox Business’ Mornings With Maria.

“My scientists are analyzing those data to verify their accuracy. As I have said, it is possible to escape from a laboratory by accident. Bancel acknowledged that human beings make mistakes.”

“So it is possible the Wuhan lab was working on virus enhancement and gene modification. Then there was an accidental infected person in a lab and they infected their friends and family.”

According to the claim, it is possible. He said that scientists are currently analyzing the claim to determine if it is real or false.

Last week’s report revealed that the SARS CoV-2 furin cleavage sites (FCS), were authored by an international team. The study, Frontiers in Virology, found that the genetic code in the FCS contains genetic code identical with a portion of a Moderna-patented gene.

Moderna’s patent gene sequence, MSH3, is unlikely to appear naturally in coronaviruses. This means that natural mutation in COVID-19 is almost impossible.

Researchers noted that “The presence of a 19-nucleotide sequence of RNA encoding an FCS at amino acids 681 of its spike proteins with 100% identity to a proprietary MSH3 sequence is highly unusual.”
