Spotify And Apple May Be Outmatched by TikTok Music Apps

Given how closely TikTok and music discovery are interconnected, it would not be surprising that the company launches a music streaming app. Insider has found patent filings that indicate TikTok is working on this.

In May, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance submitted a trademark application to the US Patent and Trademark Office regarding “TikTok music”. According to the filing, users would be able to download, purchase, share, and play music. The service would allow users to share, recommend, and even suggest playlists and comment on the music. It also allows live streaming of audio and video. ByteDance filed for the “TikTok music” trademark in Australia in November last year.
