Taylor Swift Responds to Backlash and Mockery after Being Added to The Top 100 Private Jet Polluters

The topic of celebrity excess has been heatedly discussed lately with Kylie Jenner calling attention to the excessive pollution emitted by the wealthy after she flew in her private jet for a 17-minute flight. She then posted an Instagram post showing off her ability to fly to the grocery shop.

Jenner was called a “climate crime” by Instagram and Twitter users, who expressed frustration at public efforts to reduce and reuse, and recycle, which were swept away by the fumes from private jets.

Now, UK-based sustainability marketing company Yard has compiled a ranking list of celebrity climate criminals. Taylor Swift is at the top, having flown no less than 170 flights between 2022 and 2023. Total CO2 emissions were 8,293 tonnes, Yard’s data shows.

Swift quickly overtook Jenner to be the face of the problem. Many reacted with anger as well as surprise at Swift’s stance. After all, the Kardashian-Jenner brand is full of criminal indulgence and excess, while Swift maintains a more casual image. Swift quickly became the topic of mockery due to this stark contrast.
