Mark Zuckerberg: Meta will test selling virtual products in the metaverse

Meta wrote in the blog post that “The metaverse” — due to its freedom from physical space — would bring new levels of creativity and provide new opportunities for the next generation of creators and entrepreneurs to pursue their passions and create livelihoods.

Meta will pay some U.S. virtual world creators directly for their efforts in addition to making in-world purchases.

Zuckerberg stated that people who create amazing worlds are our focus. He added that we are simply creating funds to compensate and reward those who do great work in Horizon.

These bonuses will be based on goal-oriented monthly programs, where creators get paid at the end of each month for their progress towards the goal.

Meta stated that creators will be rewarded if they create worlds that attract the most people. The company suggested that it might change the metrics by which creators are measured.
