Mark Zuckerberg: Meta will test selling virtual products in the metaverse
Last October, Meta created a $10 million Horizon Creators Fund. It is not clear how much Meta has set aside for Horizon Worlds’ creators, or how much each can earn.
Zuckerberg is one of the most successful people in the world.
CNBC spoke with Matt Navarra, a social-media consultant: “The complex metaverse Meta keeps pitching to us is still many years away from being realized.”
He said that there are still many questions about how the technology will be used and its popularity.
Navarra stated that meta switching on monetization tools was a smart move to kickstart a creator economy in the metaverse. The metaverse will be something that brands and creators should continue to monitor in the short term, however.
He said: “TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube are the core of the creator economy. These are proven sources of income. The Metaverse is just beginning to take off.
