According to the ABC News/Ipsos poll, Biden’s policies on Ukraine were supported by a large majority of Americans. These included sending more U.S. military equipment and weapons to Ukraine (79%), supporting refugees from Ukraine (63%), and sending additional U.S. soldiers to Europe (53%).

Americans weren’t as supportive of the more aggressive options Biden said the U.S. wouldn’t pursue.

These include sending troops to Ukraine (17%) or imposing a no-fly zone over Ukraine (27%), both of which could lead to direct military conflict between Russia and America.

Although the White House policy is in line with Americans’ expectations, 53 percent of Americans disapprove (53%) of Biden’s handling of Russia and Ukraine. There is a large gap in Americans’ disapproval between Republicans (85%), and Democrats (28%).

The majority of Americans are disapproving of Biden’s handling of these issues and have continued to respond on a variety of other topics, including crime, climate change mitigation, inflation, and immigration.

The president’s response in combating the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a bright spot. 58% of Americans approve — up from 50% in January. The number of COVID-19-related deaths and cases in the U.S. has largely declined, whereas hospitalizations have stagnated. The Northeast and West Coast have seen an increase in cases, while the Washington elite has been facing a COVID-19 epidemic in recent weeks.
