Trump has never been charged with any crime and has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

The panel has intensified its investigation in recent months ahead of the public hearings scheduled next month.

After refusing to submit to subpoenas by the panel to testify or turn over documents, the House voted Wednesday to remand former Trump aides Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino before the Justice Department.

In November, the House voted to refer ex-Trump adviser Steve Bannon to Justice Department for contempt for Congress. This was because he refused to cooperate in the investigation. Indicted by the Grand Jury in November, he could face up to a year of imprisonment and a $100,000 fine if convicted.

In December, the House also voted to refer former White House chief-of-staff Mark Meadows before the Justice Department to face a criminal contempt case. Meadows’ referral has not been considered by the Justice Department.
