Bill Gates-backed company claims that breast milk from the lab is only 3 to 5 years away

CNN Business cofounder Leila Strickland said that “Human milk” may be available in three to five years from a Bill Gates-backed lab.

BIOMILQ aims to produce human milk-producing cells much like some companies produce lab-grown meat.

Strickland said that she came up with the idea after having difficulty breastfeeding her first child

The startup, which is based in North Carolina, received $3.5 million from Breakthrough Energy Ventures. This fund was started by Bill Gates. The Times reported this news in June 2020.

Breakthrough Energy’s board includes Jeff Bezos (Amazon CEO), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), and Richard Branson, Virgin founder.
