Hyundai Needs More Information after Elantra N Owner Banned from Road for Stock Exhaust

Although the officer seems to have been through the whole process several times before, he quickly informs the driver about the lengthy and costly process that he will have to follow to get the car on the road again. The officer tells them the vehicle will not be registered and advises the driver to sue the dealer to recover his losses.

He followed the instructions but was not able to get any answers.

The driver should not have used the N mode in a public place and is therefore liable for the incident. We can’t help but wonder if the police had a harsher reaction than was necessary.

The owner of the vehicle, OkCandidate103, posted the interaction on Reddit. He updated us about the incident. According to him, one month later, a Hyundai manager contacted him to arrange a time to pick up his vehicle for testing at Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. He was also given a loaner hybrid that he continues to use.

He’s still responsible for all payments even though the vehicle is not his. Hyundai gave him $500 to help. Hyundai confirmed that the vehicle was in stock and has no problems with it. However, he will continue to keep it for the moment. The owner has hired an attorney, and has a court date for February 23rd. We will update you after.

It is a shame that something so minor like a track mode can have such devastating consequences. But the law is. The Hyundai Elantra is a fun car. Hopefully, the matter will be resolved quickly to reunite the owner.
