Chesky stated that he and his cofounders would contribute some of their own money. After Airbnb’s 2020 flotation, the 40-year-old Chesky was given stock in the amount of $120m. Its ultimate value is dependent on how the company performs over the next ten years.

Chesky pledged to give the net proceeds of his equity award to “community and philanthropic causes” and donated $100m stock to a $1.7bn fund to support Airbnb hosts. In 2019, he received $421,000 in total compensation.
