Musk’s Twitter moments are not so great. He called Vernon Unsworth a “pedo guy”, a diver who saved a group of Thai football players trapped in a cave in Thailand. Unsworth was criticized for his plans to rescue them with a submarine.

Musk deleted the tweets and apologized to Unsworth for his actions. Unsworth sued Musk for $190m damages. After the jury found that Tesla boss Unsworth was not defamatory, Musk said to reporters in the hall of the courtroom: “My faith is restored.”

Analysts believe that Musk’s shareholding could result in him becoming more involved in Twitter. This could potentially lead to a buyout.

Analyst at Wedbush Securities Dan Ives stated that the passive stake was only the beginning of larger conversations with the Twitter board/management, which could eventually lead to an active stake.
