Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters Drummer, Has Died At 50

Taylor Hawkins was the lively, passionate drummer of Foo Fighters over two decades. According to a statement by the band, he has now died at 50.

It said that “The Foo Fighters Family is devastated by the tragic, untimely death of our beloved Taylor Hawkins.” posted the message to social media. “His infectious laughter and musical spirit will live on forever.” Foo Fighters were currently on tour in South America. A rep for the band said Rolling Stone. There was no cause of death.

Many musicians and celebrities used social media to pay tribute to Hawkins, as news broke about Hawkins’ passing. “God Bless you, Taylor Hawkins. “I loved your spirit, your unstoppable power and rock power,” said Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and shared a photo with Hawkins and Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell. “Rest in Peace, my friend,” Miley Cyrus, an avid Foo Fighters fan, shared a photo of herself and Hawkins on her Instagram stories. She wrote, “This is the way I’ll always think about you,” and also added that she would dedicate her next concert to Hawkins and Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell. Slash wrote that Hawkins’ death left him “devastated,” saying, “I’ve no words to express all the feelings I have about his passing.” Former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, Ozzy Osbourne and producer Steve Albini, as well as musician Finneas, also contributed to the tributes.
