Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters Drummer, Has Died At 50

Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to Laguna Beach, California in his childhood with his family. He rose to fame as the touring drummer of Alanis Morissette in the Jagged Little Pill period. “I was astonished when I first heard the song ‘You Oughta know’. ‘” Hawkins told Rolling Stone last November. Hawkins was also featured in music videos for ” You Oughta Have” as well as ” You Learn”.

Following an inter-studio dispute that saw William Goldsmith, Foo Fighters’ original drummer, leave the group during sessions for The Colour and the Shape –forcing Dave Grohl to drum on the album — Hawkins was officially accepted by the band at Grohl’s request in spring 1997.

In his 2021 autobiography The Storyteller, Tales of Life and Music, Grohl later called the drummer his “best friend and partner-in-crime”. “During his time as Alanis’ drummer, well before he was a Foo Fighter. We would often bump into each other at festivals around the world. Our chemistry was so evident that even Alanis asked him once, ‘What do you plan to do when Dave asks for your drummer? Grohl wrote. “Part Beavis and Buttheadpart Dumber We were a hyperactive blurring of Parliament Lights and air drumming wherever and whenever we went.
