Selena Gomez, A Lupus Patient, Reveals that She Has Gained Weight from Her Medication

The singer encouraged her fans to embrace self-love as well as acceptance.

She said, “I just wanted to encourage anyone who feels shame for what they are going through. Nobody knows the whole story.”

“I just want people to know that you are beautiful and wonderful.”

A Wizards of Waverly Place alum, she also stressed the importance of health over appearances.

She said, “And yes, we have days when maybe we feel like ***, but I would rather be healthy and take good care of myself.”

She said, “My medications are important and they are what help me.”

After attending the 2023 Golden Globes, the Rare Beauty founder stopped receiving more body-shaming comments.

In an Instagram Live, Selena asked her half-sister Gracie, nine years old, if she was feeling a bit bigger right now because she enjoyed the holidays.

Selena said, ‘But… we don’t care.’

Selena, a social media user in 2018, called out “the beauty myth” following unflattering images.

She wrote that she had made the decision to take care of herself because she wanted to, and not to prove anything to anyone.

The Lose you to Love me singer revealed that she had received a kidney transplant in September 2017 after suffering complications from Lupus.

Selena thanked Francia Raisa for the donation of her new kidney.

Gomez said, “There are no words to express my gratitude for Francia Raisa,” “She gave me her kidney as a gift and sacrifice. I feel so blessed. I love you so much sis.’
