Samantha Markle’s Defamation Lawsuit Will See Harry And Meghan Deposed, A Judge Rules
Prince Harry, Meghan and the Duchess of Sussex will be deposed in a defamation suit brought against her in the United States by her half sister, Samantha Markle. A Florida judge ruled Tuesday.
Markle sued Meghan for “defamation” and injurious falhood following their 2021 interview with Oprah. He is seeking damages of more than $75,000.
Samantha Markle’s March 2022 lawsuit alleges that Meghan made “demonstrably falsified and malicious statements to a worldwide audience,” which includes the “roughly 50,000,000 people in 17 countries who watched the interview.”
In September 2013, Meghan filed a motion to stop depositions. This was a witness’s out-of-court testimony that was used to collect information.
Charlene Edwards Honeywell was the presiding judge. She ruled that Meghan did not demonstrate that Meghan had “unusual circumstances” that justified the request for a stay.
