MrBeast Is a YouTube Star Who Helps 1,000 Blind People with Cataract Surgery Sponsorships

YouTube star MrBeast makes the world clear – at least for 1,000 people.

The content creator has just launched a new stunt to pay for cataract surgery for 1,000 people who are near-blind or blind but cannot afford it.

“We’re curing one thousand people’s blindness,” said MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson in Saturday’s video. It reached more than 32 million views by Sunday afternoon.

This video shows before-and-after footage showing patients seeing clearly after completing their surgery. Some of the participants were also given cash donations and gifts by the YouTuber.

Jeff Levenson, an eye doctor and surgeon worked with Donaldson in Jacksonville to perform the first round. Levenson coordinates the “Gift of Sight”, a program that provides free cataract surgery to legally blind patients. This has been in place for more than 20 years.

Levenson explains that half of all blindness worldwide is caused by people who require a 10-minute procedure.
