Scientists Believe That A ‘new Kind Of Light’ Can Kill Almost All Microbes In An Area And Could Prevent Another Pandemic
Far-UVC quickly reduces the number of active microbes within the indoor environment to nearly zero, making indoors as safe and secure as outdoors,” stated David Brenner (director of the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons) and co-author of that study.

The technology is called Far-UVC Light and is described today in Scientific Reports.
“Far-UVC is easy to install, cost-effective, does not require people to change, and it’s a safe and effective way to prevent transmission of any virus including the COVID virus (and its variants), as well influenza and potential future pandemics,” Dr Brenner said in a statement.
UVC is a similar light that has been proven to clean air for decades. It is sometimes used in specific cases to kill viruses and bacteria. However, it is not recommended to use it indoors where people gather. It can be dangerous for people’s eyes and skin, which can lead to eye infections.
