Samsung, the iPad Remains the Best Tablet to Buy.
Tablets are my favorite thing, more than phones. The most popular tablets have large pictures and big swipe gestures. The top phones are fragile and likely to be damaged. Every year, I trade in my phone to get the latest, most advanced version. It’s been either a Samsung Galaxy or an Apple iPhone for more than a decade. Because each has its own benefits, I switch between them, and they both are fun. An Apple iPad was the best tablet I purchased.
It’s not because Samsung doesn’t make great tablets. Apple has just released a new iPad Pro (2022). It includes a 12.9-inch model featuring an incredible Apple XDR display. The US price is $1099. You can also get the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ for $300 less. It has a similar screen but uses OLED technology. This device looks amazing.
Samsung includes a free pen and uses the same EMR technology found on professional-grade Wacom drawing tablets. Apple Pencil 2 costs $129 and must be charged. Let’s stop and think about spending $129 on a pencil. A battery that will eventually go out.
This is not Samsung’s best tablet. The Galaxy Tab S8 U is also available. This 14.6-inch tablet is still considerably cheaper than the Apple iPad Pro 12.9 inch. Samsung’s tablet runs multiple screens and has a desktop mode. There is no need to wait until the next iPadOS release.
Why isn’t Samsung Tabs the best?
Strategy Analytics shows that Samsung is the #2 tablet manufacturer, although its market share has hovered just below 20% over the years, compared to Apple’s 38%. Despite Android being the most popular tablet OS, Apple still sells more tablets than any other manufacturer, despite it being cheaper.
So, why isn’t Samsung winning? Why is the iPad such a popular choice for tablets? The iPad’s latest, most powerful model is faster than Samsung’s and has a high-end Apple M2 chip inside. Samsung, however, uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon specifically designed for mobile platforms. Although the iPad’s cameras are slightly better, there aren’t any other major advantages.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, on the other hand is lighter and thinner than the 12.9 inch iPad Pro. It weighs in at a quarter pound (or 115g). It charges faster. The tablet has a slot for memory cards, which allows for smoother file transfers. It’s a great tablet that’s much less expensive than Apple’s iPad and is not even Samsung’s largest and most powerful.
Android doesn’t care much about tablets
It isn’t the best tablet because Android doesn’t work well on tablets. Android on a tablet appears like an expanded phone. Icons look like floating islands in a vast sea. It is obvious that popular apps don’t look good on Android tablets.
Android is all about efficiency and compact customization on a smartphone. It’s one-handed easy. It is easy to navigate by using quick swipes on the sides or buttons that disappear for space.
