Netflix Will Require Subscribers To Pay For Users Outside Their Household
Netflix is also testing the possibility of allowing subscribers to transfer their user profiles to new accounts. This would make it easier to pay for your own plans, and reduce password theft. Members from the three countries tested can share their profile information to allow others to either transfer it to a new account, or to an Extra Member sub-account — while still keeping their viewing history and My List.
Over the next few weeks, Netflix will inform members who have their accounts shared with others in the three test countries about the new options. If a member logs into their account from a device other than their own, they may be asked to verify it. Netflix may ask the user to send a verification code to confirm the login.
Netflix ended 2021 221.8 millions total paying subscribers around the world. 75.2 million (or 34%) of those were located in the U.S.A. and Canada.
