Intel Launches Quantum SDK for Developers to Create Quantum Algorithms

Chip giant Intel Corp (INTC.O) has released a new software platform that allows developers to build quantum algorithms. These algorithms are designed to eventually run on a quantum computer that Intel is working on a building. Called the Intel Quantum SDK, this platform enables algorithms to run on a simulated quantum computing system, according to Anne Matsuura, head of quantum applications and architecture at Intel Labs.

Quantum computing is based on quantum physics, which theoretically can perform calculations much faster than conventional computers. By offering the ability to use the C++ programming language to build quantum algorithms, the Intel Quantum SDK is accessible to individuals without expertise in quantum computing.

In a statement, Matsuura explained that “The Intel Quantum SDK helps programmers get ready for future large-scale commercial quantum computers. It will also advance the industry by creating a community of developers that will accelerate the development of applications.”
