Ho Hum Weekend as a ‘Top Gun 2’ Rockets Return to Chart

Paramount and Skydance are expected to make $6.6 million from the 3,181 cinemas. This will give them a second-place finish. The domestic Tom Cruise movie is certain to surpass the $700million mark. It has grossed over $1.35 Billion globally, making it one of the most successful films of all time.

The top five are expected to include Nope, Thor Love and Thunder, and DC League of Super Pets.

A24’s special film Bodies Bodies is another title that cracked the top 10. 8 with an estimated $ 3 million from 928 theatres. The black comedy, directed by Halina Reijn stars Amandla Strenberg, Maria Bakalova and Rachel Sennott. It also stars Chase Sui Wonders, Chase Herrold, Lee Pace, and Myha’la Herrold. A24 will slowly roll out the film throughout the month. It began its run last weekend in a few cinemas.

Lionsgate’s Fall is another new offering this weekend. It is an adventure thriller that centers on a group of climbers. Scott Mann directed the movie and Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner starred. The film is expected to debut at $2 million from 1,548 locations.

Gravitas Ventures, an independent distributor, is also profiting from the slowdown in summer camp pole fare. Although the results are not encouraging, the company will release Mack as well as Rita in approximately 2,000 theaters. The comedy, which features Elizabeth Lail as a 30-year-old woman who wakes up at 70 after a bachelorette to find that she is 70 years older than her husband, may not make it to $1 million in its debut.

Fall was given a B CinemaScore by the audience, while Mack (Rita) received a rare D+.

This would mean Mack and Rita are behind the weekend’s rerelease of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is expected to make $1.1 million or $1.2million from just 389 theaters.

Sunday will see the update of weekend numbers.
