Google Hangouts Seems to Be Dead

Although we can still access the website, it will not automatically redirect us.

However, there is a link to Google Chat that can be clicked to load the new messaging experience. In the next few days, the website may disappear completely.

Before Google made Chat a business offering, it was only available to some. Chat, according to the company, “opens up new ways and better ways” for collaboration with features that aren’t available in Hangouts. Chat allows users to edit Docs, Slides and Sheets simultaneously. Space is a place where friends and colleagues can collaborate on documents. Gmail has Chat integration so people can access chats without opening the Chat website.

Google stated previously that anyone who wants to save a copy of their Hangouts data must use its Takeout Tool before the service ceases to exist. You can still access Hangouts via Takeout.
