Google May Unveil Its ChatGPT-clone on February 8

Everybody panic! Google will host an “emergency event” next week. According to The verge, the event is about “using the power and AI to reimagine the way people search for, explore, and interact with information. Making it more natural, intuitive, and ever-present than ever before to find the right information.” In other words, Google will fire up its photocopier to get OpenAI’s ChatGPT on the platen. The event, which will last 40 minutes, will be live on YouTube on February 8.

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, held its earnings call yesterday. Sundar Pichai, the Google/Alphabet CEO, promised that “very soon” people would be able “to interact directly with our most powerful language models as an assistant to Search in experimental, innovative ways. This was in contrast to the meteoric growth of ChatGPT. He even brought Larry Page and Sergey Brin from retirement to assist.
