Google Hangouts Seems to Be Dead

Google has put Hangouts to bed, just a few years after it announced it would encourage users to use Chat instead. In July, Google removed the Hangouts Chat app from iOS and Android. The prompt informed users that Hangouts had been replaced by Google Chat and they could switch to the standalone Chat app, or to the Chat experience within Gmail. The last version of the messaging platform, Hangouts for the web, has been discontinued by TechCrunch.

Users might get a message when they visit the Hangouts website. It may say: “Starting November 1, 20,22, Hangouts on the web will redirect to Chat on the Web. We recommend that you move to Chat immediately.
