Elon Musk claims Starlink is in discussions with Apple to connect its internet service with iPhones

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, stated that the company’s satellite internet division Starlink had been in touch with Apple.

Musk Tweeted Thursday: “We’ve had several promising conversations with Apple regarding Starlink connectivity,” adding that the “iPhone staff is obv Super Smart.”

Apple announced this week its next iPhone, the iPhone14. It will use satellite service to enable users to make emergency phone calls even if they don’t have a signal.

Musk said that “closing the link from space to cell phone will work best” and that phone software and hardware should adapt to space-based signals. This seemed to suggest that Apple would need to adapt its phones to be able to connect to Starlink satellites.
