David Beckham, England Football Legend, Stood in Line for 13 Hours to Pay Tribute to The Queen

Beckham spoke to ITV News reporter and said that he was a “household of royalists” growing up. He had come on behalf his grandparents, who he claimed would have waited in line if they were still around.

Beckham recalled how fortunate he was to have had the opportunity to meet the Queen on several occasions. This highlighted the honor that he felt playing for the national English football team.

He said, “You know, I wanted to represent my nation, to be captain in mine, and every time we stood there wearing those Three Lion shirts and I had my armband, and we sang, God, save our Queen’ that was something that meant so very much to us.”

Beckham, dressed in a navy suit and flat cap, said that his “knees” were fine despite waiting for over 12 hours.

However, the same could not be said about his back. Beckham was seen taking selfies with his fans on social media. One woman who waited for hours alongside Beckham told reporters she had “big respect”, and that he “had paid his respects however they wanted.”

The queue runs for miles from Westminster Hall, following the river Thames south. It passes landmarks like the London Eye, Royal Festival Hall and Globe theater.

It is planned to extend as far as nine miles (14.5 km). After reaching its maximum capacity, the line was forced to close several times Friday. The official tracker of the government advised a waiting time of 24 hours as of Friday afternoon.
