Buses sent by GOP Texas Governor to transport migrants arrive in D.C.

Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary, stated during a briefing that all people who arrived in D.C. were processed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. She added that it was nice that Texas was helping them reach their final destination while they wait for the outcome of their immigration proceedings.

Alejandro Mayorkas, Homeland Security Secretary, recently announced that the Trump-era Title 42 public health rule would be repealed. This rule was used by the U.S. since 2020 to stop the spread and spread of Covid by, preventing immigrants from crossing U.S.-Mexico borders to claim asylum.

This policy, which will be lifted on May 23, has prevented more than 1.7million attempts by immigrants to cross the border during a pandemic. DHS officials warned that Title 42 could lead to a surge in the number of migrants.
