Nasa’s Hubble telescope determined that the comet’s nucleus is approximately 500 trillion tonnes in mass and measures 85 miles (137 km) wide, which is larger than Rhode Island.

Don’t worry. It will be one billion miles from the Sun before it gets there, but that won’t happen until 2031.

Hubble only confirmed the existence of this creature after it was first discovered in 2010.

It is larger than any other comet seen by astronomers.
