Biden: The U.S. Will Not Allow Russian Aircraft Into Its Skies

Biden pledged in his State of the Union speech that he would work with allies and seize assets of Russian Oligarchs including luxury apartments and yachts.

During his State of the Union speech Tuesday, President Joe Biden stated that the U.S. would block Russian flights and promise more pain to Russia’s cadre of oligarchs in punishment for its invasion of Ukraine.

The president began his remarks by focusing on Moscow’s invasion in Ukraine and the efforts made by the U.S., allies, to punish Russian President Vladimir Putin — as well as other members of the country’s elite — for the ongoing assault.

Biden stated, “Tonight I am announcing we will join our allied in closing American airspace to Russian flights — further isolating Russia – and adding an additional squeeze onto their economy.”

Biden announced seconds earlier that the Justice Department would create a task force to “investigate the crimes of Russian oligarchs”.
