Biden Arrives in London to Attend a Funeral; The Queen’s Grandchildren Are Present at The Coffin

King Charles III made an unannounced visit Saturday to greet some of the thousands queuing to pay respects to Queen Elizabeth II, whose coffin is lying-in-state in Westminster Hall.

Charles and Prince William, his son, hugged and thanked the mourners who waited in line for miles near Lambeth Bridge on Saturday. Charles has taken several walks around the kingdom since Sept. 8, when he was made king, in an effort to meet his subjects.

The new king spent Saturday also meeting dignitaries who had come to London to attend his mother’s funeral. This will take place on Monday.

He held an audience at Buckingham Palace in the morning with the nation’s military chiefs. In the afternoon, he hosted a reception for Governors general of the Realms – representatives of the monarch in the U.K’s former colonies, which range from Antigua and Barbuda to Tuvalu.

Charles also met with Prime Ministers Justin Trudeau, Anthony Albanese, Australia, Philip Davis, Bahamas, Andrew Holness, Jamaica, and Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand.
