Apple closes loophole that allowed Apple Pay in Russia to continue to work

Apple declared that it would suspend Apple Pay in Russia because of the war against Ukraine at the end February. Although Visa and Mastercard cards were immediately made unavailable, the Russian Mir card worked with Apple’s payment service but was not available anymore.

Reuters reported Russia’s Mir system “remained connected with Apple Pay until that access was removed Thursday, according Russia’s National Card Payment System(NSPK).
