Zelensky Calls The Ukraine War a Horror Film at Venice Film Festival Opening

Zelensky, who appeared via prerecorded video, described the war in Ukraine to be a 189-day-long horror movie.

“It’s a drama that is based on real-life incidents. He described it as “a tragedy to the score…of explosions, shots and air raid alert wails”.

“A horror that lasts not 120 minutes, but 189 days. There are a hundred eighty-nine more days of the war in Ukraine.

He stated that the story of Ukraine was “beyond humaneness and commonsense.”

Zelensky also appealed to the “personalities cultural” to oppose the war elsewhere in his speech.

He said that “Personalities in culture: directors and producers, actors, screenwriters and cameramen, composers, directors, artistic directors, and set designers, critics, and many, many other people from many countries around the world, all belong to the same cinema family.”

“Your voice is heard and valued.”

President of Ukraine, Vitaly Churenko, urged audience members to not “turn your back on us” but to instead “clearly understand the current situation in Ukraine.”

“Don’t be afraid. That is the minimum you can do. Do not go beyond. He said, “Don’t be afraid to go beyond.”

“We must talk about the war in the clearest language possible: The language of cinema, which is the language you all speak.
