Will Smith Apologizes To Chris For Slapping Him At Oscars
Smith was criticized Sunday for not apologizing to Rock when he accepted the best actor Oscars for his role as King Richard, a portrait of Venus Williams and her father.
Chris, I would like to publicly apologize to you. Smith stated Monday that he was wrong and out of line. “I am ashamed and my actions are not indicative of the man that I want to become.” In a world filled with love and kindness, violence is not allowed.”
Smith apologized to the film academy and “the producers of this show, all the attendees, and everyone else watching around the globe.”
“I apologize to my Williams Family and to my King Richard’ Family. He said that he regretted his actions and how it had ruined a beautiful journey for everyone.
He said, “I am still a work-in-progress,” in closing.
The audience at the Dolby Theatre was stunned by the encounter and it set off a frenzy on social media.
Rock kept his cool even after being slapped. He joked that it was the “greatest evening in television history.” The Los Angeles Police Department stated that he declined to press charges.
