What Is A Vacuum Bomb Exactly? Russia’s Thermobaric Weapons Are Causing Concern.

Fears of the possible devastation caused by attacks with so-called vacuum bombs have been raised by allegations that Russia might be using thermobaric arms in Ukraine.

Oksana Markarova (the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States) stated Monday that the Russian military used a vacuum bomb. This bomb suckers oxygen from the air and triggers a massive explosion. Markarova didn’t provide any additional information and NBC News hasn’t independently verified that the weapon was used in Ukraine. However, a CNN team has taken photographs of Russian thermobaric rocket launches entering Ukraine.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), the top Republican on Senate Intelligence Committee, posted Saturday that Russia had deployed vehicles equipped with thermobaric weaponry. An anonymous senior defense official confirmed that the U.S. believed Russia had launched launcher systems that could be used to make thermobaric weapons. However, he could not confirm if the warheads were there.
