The Epic lawsuit Claims Google Paid Activision Blizzard $360 Million to Prevent Play Store Rival

Activision Blizzard was paid $360 million by Google to stop the troubled publisher from competing directly with the Play Store. According to court documents, the deal was one of at least 24 signed by Google as part of its Project Hug initiative. Reuters.

The ongoing antitrust case between Epic Games (now Google ) and Google centers on Project Hug’s financial details. These details were later called the Apps Velocity Program and the Games Velocity program. The studio claimed that Google had spent millions in incentives in order to keep large app developers off the Play Store. A newly redacted version of Epic’s complaint was released this week. It provides previously unpublished details about the Apps and Gaming Velocity Program.
