“The Conjuring 4” Works at New Line with ‘Aquaman & the Lost Kingdom’ Writer

James Wan and Peter Safran are back to produce, the filmmaking duo behind all films in the Conjuring universe, including the eighth installment of The Nun 2 currently filming in France.

Although the case details for the new installment of the Conjuring film are being kept secret, they are based upon real-life cases filed by paranormal investigators Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren.

An earlier version missed the title for the upcoming Aquaman sequel.

Johnson-McGoldrick has a long relationship with Warner Bros. dating back to when he wrote the script for the 2009 horror film Orphan. Later, he wrote Red Riding Hood and Wrath of the Titans. He was also involved in the creation of the sequel, Aquaman. This movie grossed more than $1 billion and will open in December 2023. Warners likes his cut, and it hired him to deliver a draft for a sequel to Flash (the DC movie that won’t open until June 23, 2023).

Howard Abramson, CAA, and the writer are both representing Howard Abramson, Behr Abramson.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson were the Warrens in the previous three movies as well as the spinoff Annabelle comes Home. They are expected to return to their roles, but no deals have been made at the moment.

Conjuring was a frightening success for New Line. As a counterprogramming strategy against large tentpoles, the original movie was released in 2013. It was a successful move, making $320 million worldwide with a $20 million budget. This made it one of the most lucrative horror films of all time and launched a franchise.
