It’s not their extraordinary condition that is turning heads, it’s also what these ancient specimens purport to represent.

According to the claim, the Tanis was actually killed and placed in a crypt on the day that a huge asteroid hit Earth.

It was 66 million years ago today that the reign of dinosaurs ended and the rise of mammals began.

Few dinosaur remains have been discovered in rocks that even record the last few thousand years prior to the impact. It would be amazing to have a specimen of the cataclysm.

Three years ago, the BBC filmed Tanis. The show will air on April 15 and be narrated in part by Sir David Attenborough.

Sir David will review the discoveries and many of them will be made public for the first time.

There are also fish that inhaled impact debris from the sky as it fell from the heavens, along with that leg.

A fossil turtle is shown that was skewered with a wooden stake. We also see the remains of small mammals, their burrows, and their skin. The embryo of a flying predatory pterosaur is inside the egg. Finally, we see what appears to be an asteroid fragment.
