Staten Island Workers Vote For Amazon’s First Union Here In The U.S.

A group of U.S.-based workers voted to unionize for the first time in Amazon’s 27-year history.

2.654 Staten Island workers voted to join Amazon Labor Union (ALU) out of 4,785 votes. This union was created independently by former and current employees of the tech company.

This election is a significant setback for the nation’s second-largest employers, which have heavily invested in fighting union efforts in recent decades.

This is a significant victory for organized labor in America. It also comes at a time when more Americans approve of unions at this moment than at any other time since 1965. According to Amazon’s most recent earnings report, the company employs approximately 1,000,000 workers in the United States and 1.6 Million globally.
