Starbucks Will Phase Out Paper Cups In Canada And The U.S.

Starbucks set a 2020 goal to reduce waste 50% by 2030. Starbucks stated that it plans to establish a “cultural movement” to encourage reusables use by offering customers “easy access to a Starbucks-provided reusable cup to go for every visit” by 2025.

Starbucks has also announced other green initiatives over the past decade.

It launched an initiative in 2012 to convert coffee grounds and unsold pastries into plastics or laundry detergent. It also pledged to phase out plastic straws.

In 2015, Starbucks was ranked first in an analysis on how fast-food restaurants were creating more sustainable packaging.
