A study was published in the journal on Friday Nature Researchers claimed that Mars’ thin carbon dioxide atmosphere caused sound to travel slower than on Earth. A sound’s pitch also affected its speed. Sound travels 767 miles an hour on Earth. Scientists discovered that Mars’ low-pitched sound travels at 537 miles an hour while Mars’ high-pitched sound travels at 559 miles an hour.
