Blue Origin, which is owned by Jeff Bezos and the founder of Amazon, will provide a New Glenn launch vehicle to support the administration’s Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers mission. Also known as ESCAPADE, was announced yesterday. Although NASA has worked with Blue Origin in the past it has never teamed up to launch a mission on Mars. ESCAPADE will launch on a New Glenn rocket from Space Launch Complex-36, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida in the latter part of 2024.

“ESCAPADE continues a long tradition in NASA Mars science and exploration missions and we’re delighted NASA’s Launch Services Program selected New Glenn as the launch site for the instruments that will study Mars’ magnetosphere,” Jarrett Jones (Blue Origin’s senior vice-president of the New Glenn) stated in a statement.
