In a blog last year, Ernst & Young global CTO Nicola Morini Bianzino stated that these efficiency-boosting technologies were “fantastic for eliminating the need to human engagement in time-consumer-back-office tasks or physically heavy lifting – enabling people to focus more on intellectual heavy lifting.”

This shift could already be happening: In October 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the introduction of robots to everyday life in hospitals, restaurants and toll booths all over the country. The World Economic Forum forecast that data entry, secretarial and factory jobs would all be replaced by machines by 2025.

According to the World Economic Forum report, 85 million jobs may be lost in the next few years. However, this number could be outweighed by the estimated 97,000,000 new jobs created by emerging technologies.

The report stated that these jobs would be mainly in digital marketing, business development, and data analysis, which require creativity and critical thinking skills.
