Thomas stated that she tried to ignore all the negative comments after the race.

She said, “I try and focus on my swimming.. and just try not to think about anything else.”

Thomas spoke to ESPN shortly after the race, but he did not agree to participate in the official news conference as required by NCAA. Participation is mandatory. The NCAA’s swimming- and diving championships committee could decide to take action.
